The world is finally responding to the needs of Haiti. It is amazing how it takes something so severe to get everyone’s attention. The truth is Haiti has always had a great need, the poorest country in the western hemisphere. My prayer is that this would not be a one time deal, but a sustained effort to bring hope to the nation of Haiti.

As a parent one of the things that brings me the greatest joy is seeing my kids discover something new. There is nothing like seeing the excitement and wonder in their eyes. It’s why we love to take our kids to the zoo, the aquarium or on their first roller coaster. Just last week my son made and amazing discovery, and I heard about it as soon as I got home from work. He was so excited as he told me about the “great trade” that he made at snack time at school. He had acquired this “long yellow cake with creme inside” and it “was delicious” “the best snack ever”. It was his greatest discovery since the first time he tried Cherry 7UP (man I love that stuff too).
Can’t help but think that our heavenly father enjoys it when we discovery new tastes, places, emotions? I mean think about it he could have made it so we would just need to eat once a day or once a week for that matter. He could have made every place look the same. He could have created all flowers or fish with just one color. It certainly would have saved us time in this life.
Instead he created us so we would feel hunger on a regular basis, so we would have to sit and eat many times a day. He gave us taste buds so we could enjoy many different tastes. He created a world with such diverse beauty so that we would long to travel and discover. I can’t help but think that my heavenly father enjoys seeing us enjoy his creation. He must enjoy watching us discover new things. He must get joy out of seeing our wonder and amazement at his creation.
So enjoy the life he has given you! Get out there and discover someplace new, find a new hobby, soak in the beauty of His creation. Or maybe you just need to go out and try a Twinkie… they are delicious.
Your joy brings Him joy.

I woke up a few days ago humming one of the creole songs from the church. I don’t know the words but the tune was sure catchy. Those people could worship!! In our thinking they have so little and yet they worship and praise God for everything! I am done asking God to Bless America. He has blessed us and given us so much and what has happened? We have become an ungrateful nation. God Bless America??? How about America bless God.

To blog or not to blog? That is the question. In this information age it seems like everyone has something to add to the ongoing discussion on Facebook, Twitter or by…. BLOGGING. It’s never been easier to share our thoughts and lives with the world. But who really wants to read all about my life or yours? I really can’t believe you’re reading this. We are very proud people to think that our lives our worth reading about aren’t we? For a while this thinking has kept me from doing what every hip pastor is now doing… the blog thing.
So why start now??? Because I want my life to be a good story. Donald Miller has a great message that explains what I’m thinking called “Let Story Guide You” He talks about how if our life was a story would anyone want to read it. So hence the blog… It will be a gauge for me as I post on a regular basis (hopefully) weather I am writing a good story with my life. When it comes down to it I want what we all want for our lives to be a good story. So blog on world!! and may your life be one that is worth blogging about.
